Logan & Cove Pinnacle Hybrid Mattress review: Soft, supportive and affordable

Canadian company GoodMorning.com prides itself on offering a range of mattresses at various price points, with options that suit just about every sleeper. Its Logan & Cove line is the brand’s take on luxury hybrid mattresses, and the new Pinnacle Mattress may be its best yet.

For those unfamiliar with the term, hybrid mattresses offer a balanced sleep surface by combining the best of foam and traditional innerspring mattresses. They offer the cushioning and pressure relief of memory foam, plus the support of motion-isolating steel coils.

Compared to the Logan & Cove Choice Mattress, the Pinnacle offers three extra inches of supportive foam and coils. It also has zoned support to keep your shoulders, hips, and knees in alignment while you sleep. To see how it really stacks up, I tested the mattress over the past month.

Weight recommendations: Up to 250 pounds per sleeper Mattress firmness: Medium-firm, 6.5/10 Mattress weight: 112 lbs Mattress trial period: 365 nights (free returns, full refund) Mattress warranty: 15 years Mattress price: $1,699

This hybrid mattress from Logan & Cove is considered the brand’s “most luxurious.” It features six layers of support, including a pillow top that’s double the thickness of the one on the mid-priced Frontier Mattress. Because of the added layers, this mattress comes in at 15” tall. Pinnacle Hybrid Mattress layers, explained:

Delivery and setup: Like many online mattresses, the Pinnacle is vacuum-sealed and shipped in a box. Shipping is free on all products to most parts of Canada, however, there is a $250 shipping fee to addresses in the Canadian territories and certain remote areas – see the full list of locations here. Note that Logan & Cove does not offer white glove service, meaning deliveries will not be carried up flights of stairs or to your bedroom. Packages won’t be unboxed, and removal of your current mattress is not offered either.

Moving the mattress is a two-person job (the queen size weighs in at 112 lbs), but the box made it easy to maneuver around stairs and into my bedroom without any issues. Once it was out of the box, my husband and I unrolled the mattress into place on the bed frame. It reinflated almost immediately, but I will note that the off-gas smell persisted for a couple of days even with the windows open and our air purifier running on max. For that reason, if you have the extra space I’d recommend sleeping elsewhere for the first night or two to spare yourself the smell.

How it feels: I’ve tested a few mattresses, but this is my first time experiencing any of Logan & Cove’s or its parent company GoodMorning’s offerings. However, it’s not my first time sleeping on a hybrid mattress. Previously, I was sleeping on a Kingsdown mattress that provided a firm base with a plush pillow top.

While the Pinnacle is billed as being medium-firm (a 6.5/10 on the brand’s scale), I found it to be more cushiony than I expected. The plush pillow-top adds a bouncy feel to the mattress, but the coil springs still provide plenty of support – even at the edges. I didn’t notice much of a cooling effect from the ecoLuxe Gel Foam layer, but I received my mattress in mid-September so the effects may not be as noticeable as if I’d had a chance to try it in the heat of summer. I’ll check back in about a year with any findings.

My favourite features: I’m a side sleeper and my husband is mainly a stomach sleeper, and neither of us has had any complaints so far. Also, good news for those of us with partners who toss and turn: I haven’t been woken up once, so the Pinnacle gets points for low-motion transfer.

Aside from the mattress features, I’m also a fan of Logan & Cove’s manufacturing practices. All of its mattresses are made in Canada, so I’m happy to be supporting a local business.

My least favourite features: It’s a minor complaint, but the surface of this mattress has a pretty detailed texture – I found it noticeable even through a fitted sheet. If you’re sensitive to sensory input, consider adding a mattress protector to help minimize the lumps and bumps.

Recommendations: When it comes to Logan & Cove’s mattresses, be prepared to put in some work to get them into place. It would be nice to have the option for in-room delivery or mattress removal (especially for those with limited mobility), but since that’s not offered by the brand you’ll have to sort out mattress logistics for yourself. Perhaps ask friends, family or neighbours or hire someone from Taskrabbit.

Once that’s settled, the Pinnacle mattress is a good choice if you’re the kind of person who wants to have your cake and eat it too. It offers firm support while you sleep, with the added cushion of a plush pillowtop that doesn’t leave it feeling too firm. I sometimes have a hard time adjusting to a new mattress, but with this one, it was sweet dreams almost immediately. Just be sure to give your space plenty of extra ventilation for the first day or two.
